Hailing from Longford, Ireland, the Brendan Kelly Band are a five-piece original modern country band blending contemporary country and country rock with strong Americana, folk and gospel influences. Fronted by singer-songwriter Brendan Kelly, the band have developed a distinctive sound built around honest songwriting, strong melodies, accomplished musicianship and songs drawn from real life.

At the heart of the music is Brendan’s belief that a great song should tell a story and connect with the people listening. His musical journey has taken him from Ireland to America and Nashville, where he has worked with accomplished musicians Mark Beckett and Chris Condon of Billy Ray Cyrus’s band, further developing the American country influence that runs through his songwriting.

Brendan’s original music has achieved recognition in the American country music market. “Closing Time” reached No. 1 on the Cashbox Magazine Top 100, while “Brother” and “I’ll Pick You Up” have also reached No. 1 on Nashville radio charts. His songwriting has received further recognition through The Akademia Music Awards, where “Hold Your Broken Heart” received the award for Best Country Song. In 2019, Brendan was also a Male Artist of the Year in Modern Country nominee at the Josie Music Awards.

In 2026, Brendan’s connection with Nashville entered an exciting new chapter when he signed an artist development deal with SSM Nashville. Brendan travelled to Nashville in May 2026, where he spent time writing and developing four new original songs, and he will return to Nashville in September 2026 to record the four tracks.

Alongside Brendan is a talented group of musicians who have helped create the distinctive Brendan Kelly Band sound. Mark McCormack brings keyboards and lead guitar, adding everything from atmospheric textures to powerful country- rock guitar. Udo Grunewald provides the foundation on bass, while Chris Small adds acoustic guitar and another organic layer to the band’s Americana and folk-influenced arrangements. Andrei Calcea drives the band from behind the drums, bringing energy and dynamics to the live show. Brendan leads the five-piece on vocals and acoustic guitar.

Together, Brendan, Mark, Udo, Chris and Andrei turn the original songs into a dynamic full band experience, moving from intimate storytelling and acoustic moments to a powerful modern country-rock sound. The chemistry between the musicians has become an important part of the band’s identity, with each member bringing their own character to the songs rather than simply recreating the recordings on stage.

Live performance is a major part of the Brendan Kelly Band story. Their journey has included appearances at Fields of Éire Festival in Liverpool, Longford Festival, Whelan’s Dublin and The Workman’s Club Dublin, bringing their original music to audiences through a show centred on musicianship, energy, storytelling and audience connection.

14 August 2026 marks another major milestone with the release of Brendan’s second album, The River. The album continues the storytelling at the heart of his music while developing the modern country, Americana, folk and gospel influences that have become central to the Brendan Kelly Band sound.

With The River, four new Nashville recordings on the horizon and further live activity developing for 2027, including Night & Day Festival and Fields of Éire Festival, the Brendan Kelly Band continue to build their audience across Ireland, the UK, America and beyond.
